They say she was playing with a friend Thursday night in the courtyard outside her Ontario apartment, when a man walked up and started speaking Spanish to her. He eventually lured her away and into his car.
"Shortly before 8 o'clock the mother of the six-year-old victim let her daughter and another nine-year-old friend play in the courtyard while she went inside to take a shower," said Officer Dereck Anthony, Ontario Police Department. "Shortly after the mother went inside, a strange male approached the two females and basically asked them if they wanted a skateboard which he had in his car. The nine-year-old said she didn't want anything to do with it, where as the six-year-old went with the male to his vehicle."
Police say the suspect drove the girl to an unknown area, where he then undressed her and sexually assaulted her. The suspect then dropped the girl off at a fast food parking lot, where she was eventually able to walk home. Authorities say the young girl arrived hysterical and visibly shaken.
Neighbors say they're now going to be keeping a closer eye on their children.
"I was scared that something happened to them because you know the street right here is dangerous," said Francisca Torres, neighbor.
"When she's out here in the yard, I'm out here with her," said Patricia Ydstie, neighbor. "If somebody comes, drives along and just grab her, even though she might be kicking and screaming they can still, they can still do that."
Police say they now need the public's help to find the suspect.
"Right now our investigators are out canvassing the shopping center restaurant area where she was dropped off, hoping they can find surveillance camera footage which might show the male dropping the victim off," said Officer Anthony. "We're also contacting all the neighbors in the area."
The suspect is described as a Hispanic man between the ages of 38-45 years old. According to the victim, the mane was driving a gray colored four-door sedan Thursday night with gray interior.
Police are putting together a composite sketch of the suspect with the help of the victim.
