Teen's father makes emotional plea

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS Seventeen-year-old Jamiel Andre Shaw of Arlington Heights was walking home from the mall Sunday night when he was approached by two Hispanic men.

They pulled up next to him in a car and asked him if he was in a gang. Police say when Shaw said no, but they shot him anyway.

His family says Shaw was not in a gang.

"He did everything we asked of him. It's not right. Cuz we don't know what to do now. This was me right here, you know, this is who we were living for," said Jamiel Shaw Sr., the victim's father.

Shaw was a promising football star who had attracted attention from several colleges.

His mother is serving in Iraq and is now flying home to bury her son.
