Congress wants ban on 'downer cattle'

CHINO Congress is calling for a total ban on downer cattle, which means injured cows can't be re-evaluated to be eligible for the slaughterhouse. This comes after workers at Westland-Hallmark were caught abusing sick cows, which led to the largest beef recall in U.S. history.

Meanwhile, that company will get a $67 million bill for expenses associated with the recall. That's the estimated cost of beef the government bought from the plant and had to destroy.
