Ex-employees sue new L.A. Times owner

LOS ANGELES Zell orchestrated an $8.2 billion buyout of the Tribune last year that included part ownership by the employee stock ownership plan.

The lawsuit, filed by one current employee and five former ones, contends Zell has laid off more than 1,100 Tribune employees.

Tribune officials declined comment, saying they have not read the lawsuit.
