SANTA MONICA, Calif. The single-engine airplane crashed during take-off at the west end of the airport runway, according to Ian Gregor, /*Federal Aviation Administration*/ spokesperson. The crash occurred at 5:05 p.m.

    The plane is a /*Marchetti*/ F260 model, said Gregor. It is registered as an experimental craft. The plane is licensed to a Malibu-based company.
