Suspect arrested in trunk body murder

VALLEY VILLAGE, Calif. Adel Tabrizi Chapel was already jailed for suspicion of carjacking, LAPD Officer Sam Park said. Chapel is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday on the murder charge.

Chapel and the victim, 22-year-old Denise Figueroa of North Hills, had been involved in a relationship.

An autopsy will also likely be conducted Tuesday on Figueroa's body, which was found in the trunk of a black Nissan Altima in the 11700 block of Hortense Street, near Colfax Avenue, said Assistant Coroner's Chief Ed Winter.

Officers opened the trunk shortly before 2 p.m. Saturday after being notified by an L.A. television station that had received a fax from "someone trying to help." The fax included the names of two possible suspects, including Chapel. The fax said the killing occurred Feb. 28, police said.
