Report: Calif. voters divided on Prop. 8

A field poll of 761 registered voters found that 48 percent would support a new ballot initiative repealing Proposition 8, while 47 percent would favor keeping the ban.

Five percent of those surveyed were undecided.

The gay marriage ban passed with 52 percent of the vote in November.

Gay rights activists are considering going back to voters if the California Supreme Court rejects lawsuits that seek to overturn Proposition 8.
