CALIFORNIA --Recently released numbers show the cases of flu infections in California are down this winter.The number of severe influenza cases resulting in deaths in children has also declined, according the L.A. Times. Three pediatric influenza-associated deaths were reported this season as opposed to five this same time last year.
A state health official attributes the milder flu season to this year's flu shot, which closely matched the strains of flu virus prevalent in the general population.
