Flu cases down this winter in Calif.

CALIFORNIA The number of severe influenza cases resulting in deaths in children has also declined, according the L.A. Times. Three pediatric influenza-associated deaths were reported this season as opposed to five this same time last year.

A state health official attributes the milder flu season to this year's flu shot, which closely matched the strains of flu virus prevalent in the general population.
