Water service partially restored at LAX

LOS ANGELES, Calif. Airport officials emphasize that for now, the water is not drinkable.

The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power will sample the water quality late Friday to determine when the water is appropriate for human consumption. Test results will be ready approximately 24 hours after they have been taken.

Terminal 3 was also affected by the water main break. Repair work continued Friday on the water main to restore service to Terminal 3. In the meantime, portable toilets are available for passengers outside of Terminal 3.

Concessions in Terminals 2 and 3 were reopened for business Friday after being shut down because of the water main break.

A 12-inch water main broke under a stairwell in parking structure 2B, causing flooding on the first level. The flooding has been cleaned up but the parking structure remains closed until further notice. According to LAX officials, all other parking structures are open.

There were no flight delays associated with the water main incident.
