L.A. detective to provide dental evidence

LOS ANGELES Stephanie Lazarus is accused of killing Sherri Rasmussen, who was bitten, beaten and shot in the couple's Van Nuys condo in 1986.

At a hearing Tuesday, prosecutors asked for and received permission to get dental impressions of the 49-year-old detective. Prosecutors say Rasmussen had a bite mark on her left inner forearm. They want to compare Lazarus' teeth to the wound.

Prosecutors say Lazarus's DNA profile matches a swab taken from the bite.

Lazarus is a 25-year veteran of the LAPD who worked primarily on art forgery cases. She was arrested last month by detectives who worked in the same building as her.
