2 women killed in rollover accident

LOS ANGELES The single-vehicle wreck on the road from the northbound Harbor (110) Freeway to the eastbound Glenn Anderson (105) Freeway was reported at 1:49 a.m., according to California Highway Patrol Officer Patrick Kimball.

The driver, identified only as a 20-year-old Downey woman, attempted to take the Glenn Anderson (105) Freeway eastbound exit, but passed the off ramp, according to a California Highway Patrol press release.

The driver turned her vehicle, a 1998 BMW 328i coupe, sharply to the right and crossed over the raised gore point, causing the vehicle to roll over several times, the CHP said.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics declared two women, Karla Castillo and Cindy Luna, dead at the scene, spokesman Brian Humphrey said.

The women's ages are being withheld.

Four other young women, three in their 20s and a teenager, were taken to hospitals with serious to critical injuries, Humphrey said.

The transition road was closed for several hours to accommodate the investigation.
