Metrolink lawsuits number more than 140

CHATSWORTH, Calif. The L.A. Daily News reports $600 million to $1 billion in damages could be paid out to victims.

Attorneys for the injured say the suits are being consolidated into one master complaint to limit the number of trials.

A Metrolink train slammed head on into a Union Pacific train on September 12 of last year, killing 25 people and injuring 135 others. The investigation revealed the Metrolink engineer ignored a red light signal, possibly while texting on his cell phone.
