O.C. DNA profile database is expanding

ORANGE COUNTY There are now about 15,000 profiles in the database. Most have been collected from low-level offenders who voluntarily submit DNA samples in exchange for having their charges dropped.

Officials hope to start using the database to identify suspects by the beginning of next year.
