Top 7 New Year's Eve celebrations in SoCal

Top 7 with Alysha Del Valle
LOS ANGELES The Shangri-La Hotel in Santa Monica is number one, providing a little glamour with an ocean-side vibe.

"This is our number one pick because where else would you be able to do this but in Southern California. Celebrate and ring in the new year, right overlooking the water," says CitySearch.com editor Mar Yvette.

For their New Year's Eve celebration, the Shangri-La offers various packages and pricing. General admission tickets cost $25 per person. For $40 per person, you can get VIP access to the pool deck, rooftop bar and penthouse suite. Along with the all-access party, a special five-course dinner created by chef Dakota Weiss is provided for $150 per couple. Dinner seating occurs at 6 p.m. and 9 p.m.

At number two on the list, H.Wood, tucked behind the Hollywood and Highland complex, promises to be a unique and interactive experience.

"It's a celebrity hotspot, and what they're doing for New Year's Eve is they are bringing out the Lucent Dossier Experience," said Yvette.

The avant-garde theatrical troupe promises magic, whimsical service stations and oracle readings - all of H.Wood becomes a stage. Tickets cost $125 per person, which includes all your food, drinks and entertainment.

Katsuya L.A. LIVE comes in at number three, described by CitySearch.com as "7,500-square-feet of gorgeousness."

"They've got the lounge areas, they've got a liquid kitchen, they've got their sushi chefs always working, creating these beautiful dishes, and they are going to do a fabulous party for New Year's Eve," said Yvette.

Katsuya is a great spot for those looking for a fun, delicious and inexpensive New Year's Eve. DJs will provide the dancing and the countdown.

"We know how the economy is and we know what a great New Year's we had last year, so we want to give back, and I think in giving back we made the tickets super, super affordable," said Matt Erickson of SBE and Katsuya.

Mention ABC7 and CitySearch when purchasing tickets from Katsuya L.A. LIVE, and for just $70 per person, party goers receive unlimited, world-famous Katsuya cuisine and cocktails.
