Man struck, killed by Metrolink train

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. Police say he ran into the path of the train and lay down on the tracks near the Northridge station just before 2 p.m.

The engineer on Metrolink Ventura County Line train 109 told police he was unable to stop in time.

The man, who was believed to be between 30 and 40 years old, died at the scene.

None of the train passengers were injured.
