Storm causes widespread outages in SoCal

LOS ANGELES

At 9 a.m. Wednesday, approximately 7,049 customers were without power, according to /*Southern California Edison*/. Officials said they are prioritizing repairs so that customers who have been without power the longest will have service restored first.

The hardest hit area is Orange, where1,575 customers are without power.

The storm also knocked out power to 652 customers in Newport Beach, making it the second largest outage Wednesday.

Other large outages include Lake Forest, Redlands, Altadena and Pomona.

About 320 Los Angeles Department of Water and Power customers were without electricity as of late Wednesday morning, down from 1,600 on Tuesday night.

Crews were reportedly working around the clock, with extra crews on standby. The average wait for power restoration is between one and four hours long, depending on the nature of the outage.

The total number of customers affected since the storm began on Sunday is 253,378. Some customers experienced flickering lights, while others had longer outages.
