Barricaded suspect found dead in Whittier home

WHITTIER, Calif. According to an FBI spokesperson, at approximately 7:45 p.m. Thursday, members of the FBI S.W.A.T. Team, assisted by members of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, made entry into a home on the 10000 block of Kimbark Avenue, near Workman Mill Road, and found a male individual with a fatal and what appeared to be, self-inflicted, gunshot wound to the head.

FBI agents were serving a search warrant for production of child pornography at the home in the 10000 block of Kimbark Avenue, near Workman Mill Road, at around 7 a.m.

The agents seized evidence and left the home to have it analyzed. They returned in the afternoon to arrest the 63-year-old suspect.

The suspect barricaded himself in the basement of the residence and agents heard what sounded like a single gunshot. The agents then backed out of the residence and secured the scene.

Crisis and hostage negotiators were also at the scene, as well as Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputies and paramedics.
