Runners compete in annual Pasadena Marathon

PASADENA, Calif. Mike Davies and Mandy Grantz were the winners of the race.

Davies was timed in 2:42:51 for the 26.2-mile course. Grantz was the women's winner in 3:01:05.

The race started at 7 a.m. and began and ended at Pasadena City College and went through Old Pasadena and by the Tournament of Roses headquarters, City Hall and the Rose Bowl.

Even though registration was down for this year's event, approximately 8,000 people signed up to participate.

Fortunately, for competitors they got a break from Mother Nature as they kicked off their day through Pasadena in perfect running conditions.

The race began and ended near Pasadena City College, and made a clockwise loop around the city.

The Mountain Street/Seco Street off-ramps from both directions of the Foothill (210) Freeway were closed for several hours. But all road closures for the race were lifted by the afternoon.
