Man charged with rape at Oxnard spa parlor

OXNARD, Calif. Jose Ochoa has not been charged with the shooting murder two days later of the manager of another parlor. Investigators said, "There is probable cause to believe that Ochoa committed this homicide."

On Tuesday, Ochoa was charged with multiple counts of rape, forced oral copulation, kidnapping to commit another crime, robbery, false imprisonment by violence and assault with a firearm. The charges involve two female employees at the Tokyo Spa at 1732 Saviers Road.

One of the women told investigators she was at the massage parlor at about 2 p.m. when a man entered and put a gun to her head and to the head of the second woman. The woman said he raped her. She told investigators the man appeared to be drunk or on drugs. She said he wanted to kill her.

Court documents say the suspect then kidnapped the other woman and robbed her.

Ochoa, who is unemployed, was arrested about 2 a.m. Saturday as he was leaving county jail after posting bail on assault charges from an incident at a bar Friday night.

At about 9 p.m. Friday, Sun Cha Kays, 59, Oxnard, died at a local hospital after being shot in the head at A-1 Spa Massage Therapy on South C Street. Oxnard Police say Ochoa admitted to robbing the parlor and that his gun discharged, striking the woman in the head.

Homicide detectives are continuing to investigate the murder. Charges may be filed against Ochoa.
