Covina man found dead inside his apartment

COVINA, Calif. There are still many questions surrounding the death of 46-year-old Salvador Ramirez. According to authorities he did suffer a head injury, but it is unclear at this time if that is what killed him.

Police are investigating his death as a homicide. They were called to the apartment building, which is on the 200 block of East Navilla Place at 1:04 p.m. on Thursday.

Ramirez's roommate came home and discovered his body on the living room floor in their apartment. Paramedics were called and they pronounced him dead.

Investigators went over the scene for several hours collecting evidence. A neighbor says she had seen Ramirez through a screen door lying on the floor of the apartment the night before, but didn't realize that anything was wrong.

"I thought he was sleeping, or passed out," said neighbor Lorraine. "I didn't think anything of it. I just happened to look, and the next morning I happened to look again and I saw the same body right there. It didn't get to me like he was dead or nothing."

It was the Ramirez's roommate, who is reportedly blind, who came home Thursday and called the police after discovering him on the floor. Authorities did interview him at the scene.

If you have any information about the death of Salvador Ramirez you are urged to call the Covina Police Department at (626) 384-5808.
