When police entered the home, they saw a 2-year-old boy suffering from a single gunshot wound to the upper torso, officials said.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and transported the boy to a local hospital where he died from his injury, officials said.
Detectives responded and conducted interviews with the involved family members.
Authorities said it was determined that the victim's older brother had accidentally shot his brother while playing with a loaded firearm. No charges are pending at this time, police said.
The victim's name is being withheld until next of kin has been notified.
