Study: Calif. lost 36K film industry jobs

A new study by the Milken Institute shows that California has lost 36,000 jobs, $2.4 billion in wages and $4.2 billion in total economic output.The study also found the number of movies filmed in California dropped from 272 in 2000 to 160 in 2008.

Productions are moving to places like New York, Vancouver, New Mexico and Georgia.

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger hopes a tax credit he enacted will help, but the institute says even more needs to be done to keep the jobs in the state.
