Navy destroyer collides with civilian boat

SAN DIEGO, Calif. The collision happened late Sunday during a training exercise with the Abraham Lincoln Strike Group. There were no injuries, said U.S. Navy Commander Greg Hicks.

Officials are investigating the cause.

The 509-foot-long USS Shoup is a guided-missile destroyer that carries about 380 people.

It collided with a civilian vessel, which was thought to be a 21-foot-long boat.

The incident left scrapes on the destroyer but both vessels were able to run.
