A federal judge has dismissed what remains of a lawsuit filed by a former FBI informant who claims the agency conspired with Irvine police after he became a liability to a counter-terrorism operation. The judge dismissed claims against the Irvine Police Department on Monday, and the judge had already dismissed Craig Monteilh's claims against the FBI.

Monteilh infiltrated an Orange County mosque and helped the FBI build a case against a man who was arrested in 2009 on terrorism-related charges.

According to Monteilh, Irvine police conspired with the FBI to arrest him on grand theft charges once his real identity was revealed. Monteilh served eight months in prison on those charges.

U.S. District Judge James V. Selna has given Monteilh a window to refile his case against both the FBI and the police.
