When compared to the other cities and unincorporated communities, West Hollywood has the fourth highest smoking rate in Los Angeles County, according to a new study from the Department of Health. Now the West Hollywood City Council is thinking of enacting more restrictions, on top of what is already a tough anti-smoking ordinance.

West Hollywood already prohibits smoking inside restaurants, bars and workspaces. If the City Council has its way, smoking a cigarette, even in a designated smoking patio, might soon be against the law.

There are concerns that the all-out smoking ban could have a negative impact on restaurants and hotels. Especially when it comes to international tourists who are more likely to smoke.

Some smokers said the rules are already overly restrictive.
