Suspected jewel thief arrested in Pico Rivera

A man who dug a hole through an adjacent business to break into a Pico Rivera jewelry store was arrested on Sunday.

A man who dug a hole through an adjacent business to break into a Pico Rivera jewelry store was arrested on Sunday.The 23-year-old suspect fell through the ceiling of the store and landed at the feet of authorities.

Authorities had heard movement in the attic and fired pepper spray.

The suspect, Jose Parada, had broken into a repair shop on Saturday afternoon, and then dug a hole in the wall to get into the jewelry store.

He was arrested, but $2,000 worth of jewelry is still missing.
