DUI suspect hits tree in Oxnard roundabout

OXNARD, Calif. At approximately 7 p.m. Monday, a pickup truck was observed colliding with a sign in the middle of a roundabout located at the intersection of Offshore St. and Navy Lane in Oxford.

A blue 1987 Ford Ranger pickup truck was found on its side after colliding with a tree in the roundabout on the 1000 block of Offshore St.

Emergency personnel extracted the two passengers from the overturned vehicle safely.

Witnesses told investigators the truck was speeding just south of Sea Air Park. Witnesses said the truck struck the tree rolled over, coming to a rest 15 feet east of the intersection.

The driver, Oxnard resident Chris Larsen, 42, was suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol, according to police. He was transported to the Ventura County Medical Center to be treated for minor injuries. He was arrested for suspicion of drunken driving.

His female passenger was released at the scene of the collision, according to police.
