MTA cuts LA bus lines due to budget cuts

LOS ANGELES A spokesperson for Metro said the cuts, which go into effect Sunday, will save the transit agency $30 million a year.

Five Metro Rapid lines and four local lines will be cut.

Their service will be redistributed to other lines operating along the same corridors.

Bus routes to be cut include 711, 714, 715, 753 and 920.

The agency is combining cancellations with layoffs and the cutting or delay of certain projects to close an operating deficit of $250 million this fiscal year.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
