Ja Rule pleads guilty in 2007 weapon case

NEW YORK The rapper's sports car was stopped for speeding, and police said they found a loaded .40-caliber semiautomatic gun in the rear door of the vehicle.

In court on Monday, Ja Rule was promised a two-year prison sentence. He could have faced up to 15 years in prison, if convicted on the gun charge.

He is free until sentencing, on a date yet to be set. The rapper is due back in court Feb. 9 for an update.
