Songwriter gets 20th Oscar nomination

LOS ANGELES

This year with his Academy Award nominated song "We Belong Together" from "Toy Story 3," songwriter Randy Newman earned his 20th Oscar nod.

It was with his 15th nomination in 2002 that Newman finally took home an Academy Award.

He won for the song "If I didn't Have You" from "Monsters Inc."

Newman may be up this year for another family film, but he says he's ready to venture into a different genre.

"I'd like to do something else," he said. "I've been typecast doing animated. Being typecast, it's a little bit of a drag."

This weekend, he'll grace the Oscar stage once again and perform his latest nominated song.

Though it won't be his first time, Newman says he still gets nervous.

"Every time," he said. "Strangely enough, I don't get nervous doing anything else, but performing makes me a little nervous."
