The star belonged to 1920s actress Marilyn Miller, star of the 1929 film "Sally."
The star was one of several moved from Hollywood and Vine in the 1970s to make way for special honors for NASA astronauts.
The stars that were moved were supposed to be destroyed and replaced with new ones.
Apparently, Miller's star was stolen and no one realized it until Monday, when a man came forward to return it.
