Study: Weight loss linked to better memory

LOS ANGELES

Researchers at Kent State University studied 150 people who weighed an average of 300 pounds.

Of that group, 109 people had weight loss surgery. Researchers discovered those who lost weight showed improvement in memory and concentration.

Those who did not have surgery and maintained the same weight showed a mild decline in memory.

More research is needed to see if mildly overweight people experience similar improvements with weight loss through exercise and diet.
