Michelle Obama addresses West Point cadets

WEST POINT, N.Y.

She congratulated them for their accomplishments at the military academy.

With the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan high on everyone's minds, she also reminded the cadets to think beyond their fellow soldiers and to remember the families that send them off to war.

"Your journey began long before you got that first military haircut and put on white over grey. Without your families, you never would have had the strength to tackle these barracks," she said.

This was the first lady's first visit to West Point. She is expected to visit Quantico Middle/High School on the Marine Corps base in Virginia in June.
