Pop Luck Club luncheon promotes gay parenting

WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif.

Dozens of gay fathers and their children gathered there for a community celebration put on by the Pop Luck Club.

The Pop Luck Club was founded in 1998 to encourage and support gay and lesbian parents, as well as prospective parents.

Now they're partnering with local agencies, including the L.A. County Department of Children and Family Services, to promote adoption.

"There are so many kids available right now here in L.A. County," said Pop Luck Club board member John Ireland. "So for anybody, gay or straight, who wants to adopt, and foster and adopt, it's very, very simple. So the agencies are here, the L.A. Gay and Lesbian Center, Family Services Department is here, showing everybody what resources are there for us when we choose to make a family.

The Pop Luck Club has grown to include about 500 kids in more than 250 families.
