A crash that left an infant dead has prompted a Los Angeles artist to launch a petition to keep cars off the streets of downtown during the monthly Art Walk.

Victor Wilde, who owns The Brutique studio, said he's concerned there isn't enough room for both cars and the huge crowds attending the event.

Last Thursday, a car jumped a curb and plowed into a crowd, hitting a couple and their 2-month-old son. The baby, Marcello Vasquez, later died.

The crash is still being investigated. Police Det. Felix Padilla says investigators are preparing the case for review by prosecutors for the possible filing of charges.

An account has been set up for Marcello Vasquez:
Donations will be accepted at Wells Fargo Bank
