Officials with the Federal Aviation Administration say two airplanes collided above Alaska on Saturday afternoon.

The Alaska state patrol says the accident happened near Trapper Creek, just north of Anchorage, at about 2 p.m.

One plane crashed to the ground after the collision, the other was able to land safely.

Information on injuries or how many people were aboard the planes were not immediately available.

The plane that landed safely, a Cessna single-engine, returned to the Anchorage International Airport.
