Mouth-to-snout CPR saves drowning Mass. dog

BOSTON

Authorities said a witness saw Foxy the dog being dragged by her leash into chest-deep water and told an officer.

State troopers tracked down the dog's owner and found Foxy in the woman's car.

An animal patrol officer who was called in to help said the dog looked lifeless so she jumped into action.

"I administered CPR on the dog - both chest compressions and mouth-to-mouth, or mouth-to-snout as everyone likes to say," said animal control officer Leslie Badger.

Foxy is expected to make a full recovery and will be put up for adoption in a few weeks.

The former owner is facing animal cruelty charges.
