'Tri-Cities Bandit' indicted by LA grand jury

LOS ANGELES

On Tuesday, a federal grand jury in Los Angeles returned an indictment against 39-year-old Ernest Viana and 42-year-old Oleg Gorokhovsky, the suspected getaway driver.

The FBI named Viana the "Tri-Cities Bandit" after he was linked to heists that occurred in Burbank, Glendale and Pasadena. After those robberies, he was linked to several others across Southern California.

Viana was charged with a dozen counts of bank robbery. Gorokhovsky faces one count of aiding and abetting.

Both men were arrested Aug. 19 following a bank robbery in Westlake Village.
