Huseman, 38, his brother Jeffrey Huseman, 26, and 35-year-old Daniel Hicks, all of Riverside, where on the Beechcraft Bonanza when it went down Sunday near Lake Dolores in the early afternoon hours.
Authorities said the plane was attempting to make an emergency landing when it went down. The three had been flying back from the Monster Energy Cup in Las Vegas.
Huseman was a popular figure with legions of fans. He began his career in 1997 after visiting Glen Helen Raceway and watching the daring sport. He would later be voted 2010 off-road driver of the year.
"Being able to fly into a turn and just set it up, and just go, crazy adrenaline rush," he said in a video.
Huseman was a member of Toyota's off-road racing program.
He won the 2010 Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series and made history by winning 10 of the 15 rounds, setting a new single short-course record in his No. 36 pro 4x4 Toyota Tundra.
"Rick was an enthusiastic and extremely talented member of Toyota's off-road racing program. He was a true champion both on and off the track," Toyota Motors said in a statement.
In his 13 years in the sport, Huseman made his mark on off-road racing, scoring 44 victories.
