The University of California Board of Regents does not plan on raising tuition during the current academic year, even if state funding is cut.

However, tuition could increase next year if the 10-campus system doesn't receive the $2.8 billion it hopes to get from the state.

With state revenues coming in below projections, the UC system is likely to lose another $100 million this year.

The UC Board of Regents is expected to vote on the funding request next week.
