Hands-free Waze app: Get traffic info using voice commands

LOS ANGELES

The free Waze app gives you up-to-the-second traffic information from drivers around you. Now, just a wave of the hand activates voice commands, allowing you to report traffic jams, accidents and other incidents without taking your eyes off the road.

Download Waze to your smartphone at http://m.waze.com/download

Information is shared with the more than 500,000 drivers using Waze in Southern California. Even if you don't file a report, all you have to do is turn the app on to get all the benefits, including free GPS navigation and real-time traffic conditions.

In exchange, Waze passively collects data about your drive. That data is used to inform all the other drivers in the Waze community about driving conditions in your area. Waze will then alert you about any traffic problems and give you alternate routes.

The hands-free version of the Waze app is available for download at the iTunes app store.

It's not available yet for android phones, but you can still download the original Waze app by visiting the Android Market.
