Moreno Valley school board member arrested for shooting

MORENO VALLEY, Calif.

Police said Mike Rios called authorities around 2:23 a.m. Monday, saying two men fired shots at him after a confrontation at a nightclub. Police later determined that Rios was actually the one who fired shots at the men.

Rios had told officers that he got into an argument with the two men at the club and they followed him home. He said one of the men shot at him, and then the alleged suspects fled in a vehicle. Police said they eventually located the men and interviewed them.

Detectives said during the course of the investigation, evidence and interviews contradicted Rios' story. After conducting a second interview with Rios, officers arrested him on suspicion of attempted murder.

The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information was asked to contact the Moreno Valley Police Department at (951) 486-6710.
