West Los Angeles residents are being warned of two men, suspected of robbing several homes after distracting the people inside.

Police say one of the men pretends to be an official like a city inspector, a Department of Water and Power employee or a construction worker. He convinces the homeowners to come outside, and then the second man sneaks in to burglarize the house.

So far, police say the men have mostly stolen jewelry from homes on Bagley, Barry, Comstock, Armacost, Keswick and Kelton avenues.

Officers say residents should always ask city or utility workers for ID.

If you have any information that could help investigators, you're urged to contact LAPD's West L.A. burglary detectives at (310) 444-1524 or (310) 444-1522.
