The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department says the death of a dishwasher at a Malibu restaurant was not crime-related.

Carlos Rodas, 32, was found outside Guido's Malibu on the 3800 block of Cross Creek Road at about 8:30 p.m. Sunday. He had staggered to the front of the restaurant where he worked, and then collapsed and died.

Police initially thought that Rodas was beaten to death due to the preliminary evidence. But after further investigation, detectives have determined that Rodas' death was the result of an upper respiratory infection.

According to the sheriff's department, Rodas had no external trauma to his body.
