Jennifer Hudson family murder 911 call released

CHICAGO

A judge in Chicago released the tape following requests from the Chicago Tribune, Sun-Times Media and The Associated Press. The tape was played in court last week during the trial of William Balfour, the man accused of killing Hudson's mother, brother and nephew in 2008.

Hudson's sister can be heard sobbing and pleading for help in the phone call.

"Oh my God.... Somebody's killed my mother," said Julia Hudson as a dispatcher tried to calm her and asked her to repeat her address. "She's on the floor and I see blood coming from her head." She also sounded confused and panicked when she could not find her brother or 7-year-old son, Julian.

Prosecutors tried to stop the tape from being released due to the sensitive nature of the case and because the jury has not begun deliberating. However the judge asked the jury not to watch or read news reports about the case.

Balfour has pleaded not guilty to the first-degree murder charges.
