Viewers will hear about her religious upbringing, rise to stardom and even the break-up of her marriage to actor Russell Brand, which was happening during her yearlong concert tour around the world.
"I like to tell the truth with everything and I wanted to tell the truth with this movie," Perry said. "In my songs, I like to keep it honest and hopefully people can connect on that level."
Perry added that her break up, "didn't necessarily make me feel excited to go out and dance, but it is real life."
That life also includes fans who love her and believe in her. Perry makes sure she meets fans at every show she does, and she loves those moments.
"I can't lose that connection, that would be the death of me," Perry said. "I'm a real people person. I love people. And the more the merrier to me, but I know the reason why I exist is because of the people, not because there's little kitty cats out there buying my records."
"Katy Perry: Part of Me" will be in theaters July 5.
