Fundraiser set up for families of women electrocuted in Valley Village

VALLEY VILLAGE, LOS ANGELES

Los Angeles Councilman Paul Krekorian on Thursday asked for donations to help cover ambulance fees for Irma Zamora, 40 and Stacey Lee Schreiber, 39.

The two women unknowingly stepped into a pool of electrified water on Aug. 22. They were trying to help a driver who crashed into a fire hydrant and toppled over power lines.

The fire department considered waiving the ambulance fees, but city code does not exempt Good Samaritans.

Checks in support of the fundraiser should be made out to San Fernando Valley Interfaith Council Inc., with the memo line indicating it is for the Valley Village victims. The mailing address is: 4505 Las Virgenes Canyon Road, Suite 211, Calabasas, CA 91302.
