Bombs scare prompts evacuation at Van Nuys hotel

A suspicious pipe prompted an evacuation at Studio 6 hotel in Van Nuys Monday, June 3, 2013. No explosive devices were found.

A bomb scare forced the evacuation of a hotel in Van Nuys Monday.

The incident occurred at the Studio 6 hotel located on the 13500 block of Sherman Way.

Officers from the LAPD North Hollywood Station Narcotics Division were executing a search warrant around 10:30 p.m. when they found an item, which resembled a pipe bomb, in the suspects' room.

The hotel was then evacuated for a bomb threat investigation. A bomb squad blew up the pipe and rendered it safe around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday

Three people from the original narcotics search warrant were arrested.
