Redlands driver arrested after trying to hit cyclists, police say

REDLANDS, Calif.

Redlands police say they responded several times over the weekend to reports that a driver in a gray Honda Civic had tried to hit bicyclists along Sunset Drive. Officers say they received two calls on Sunday, one in which the suspect reportedly crossed into opposing traffic and drove toward a cyclist, running him off the road.

The Honda was located Sunday afternoon. Police say they arrested the driver, identified as Christopher John McDonald of Redlands, on charges of assault with a deadly weapon. McDonald was booked into the West Valley Detention Center and was being held on $50,000 bail.

Anyone with additional information about this case was asked to call Redlands police at (909) 798-7681.
