"We're just motivating them to do better. I don't really credit myself for like giving them an education. But if they put themselves to it they can do it. I'm just here helping and leading them to the right path, I guess," Sylvia said.
Sylvia especially enjoys working with younger students. She says it's their amazing attitude that inspires her.
"It's just the joy that I see in their smile, or faces. It's also just their joy for life," she said.
For Sylvia, it is not just about giving them the right answers. It's about teaching them the knowledge they need.
"Basically when we're done with everything, just being all happy that if they have a test the next day, knowing for sure that you taught them very well so they are prepared for the next day," she said.
Seeing the kids improve is all Sylvia needs to stay motivated to continue.
"It makes me feel good because that's what I'm here to do, to help out the kids get a better education and by seeing that my work is actually helping, it basically helps me to stay here and be motivated to come even more, to help out more kids," said Sylvia.
Sylvia is a Cool Kid making a better education a reality for many other children.
